League format : Portugal : Super Liga 2026/2027
The Primeira Liga is the top level of the Portuguese football league system. It is contested by 18 teams since the 2014/15 season. Each club plays all teams twice for a total of 34 games.
Based on the point totals at the end of the season, the top team will be directly qualified for the UEFA Champions League. The second and third-placed teams must go through qualifying rounds to enter the Champions League. The bottom two teams will be directly relegated to the Portuguese Second Division, while the 16th-placed club will be sent to a relegation playoff.
